Snowbird

Snowbird, Utah has one of America’s longest ski seasons, some of the best powder, the most challenging terrain and breath-taking views. Options for accommodation and après activities may be limited, but they’re more than adequate, and if your dream is a vertical powder run, then this is the mountain for you.

Accommodation Snowbird

Don’t be put off by the external aesthetic of the accommodation at Snowbird. Being an avalanche-prone valley, the buildings have been designed to withstand pretty much anything that nature throws at them. Inside you’ll find all the amenities you need for a luxurious, comfortable stay, including a swimming pool, hot tubs, childcare, and day spas.
There are four main ski-in-ski-out lodges to choose from on the mountain, each offering hotel / condo style accommodation for families and groups, and the convenience of the snow right at your doorstep.
Alternatively, if you choose to stay at Alta, you’ll need to catch a quick bus ride to and from the base area.

Skiing & Boarding

Snowbird is world famous for its steep, deep, rugged terrain and incredible off-piste skiing. Expert skiers simply can’t get enough of the alpine bowls, chutes, spectacular tree runs, and jaw dropping cliff drops.
Surprisingly, there’s plenty here for beginners and first-timers too, with easy, expansive runs and close proximity to resort facilities. For intermediates, there are quad burning groomed runs that provide more than enough challenge.
While you’re on Snowbird, don’t miss the aerial tram to the top, or a magic carpet ride through the tunnel at Peruvian Gulch where you’ll discover fascinating Snowbird history on the walls.

Activities

The base area at Snowbird is relatively small, which means there’s not much in the way of nightlife.
Here, it’s all about the snow and there’s plenty of it to enjoy beyond the boundaries of snowboarding and downhill skiing. Take the opportunity to experience cat skiing, snowmobiling, ice-skating and night skiing. Explore the mountain and push yourself to the limits with heli-skiing, or, with adequate avalanche safety and backcountry knowledge, head out to explore the powder beyond the resort.
Camp Snowbird provides fantastic childcare facilities at Cliff Lodge and evening babysitting is available. The Snowbird Mountain School offers private and group programs for children from the age of three, as well as adults, with a great instructor to student ratio.

Getting There & Around

To get to the resort, take one of many daily direct flights into Salt Lake City airport, which is a hub for many airlines, then jump onboard a shuttle service or choose a private transfer to journey the final 45 minutes to the mountain. Be aware that it can take longer to travel in the mornings, afternoons and in bad weather.
Once you’ve reached Snowbird, you’ll find there’s little need for transportation – most of the accommodation is skin-in-ski-out.
