Accommodation Northstar

Whether you’re looking for a budget lodge, the convenience of a ski-in-ski-out condo or the five star elegance of the Ritz Hotel on the mountain, you’ll find it all in and around Northstar.
If you’re after a great family atmosphere, the centre of Northstar’s village is the place to be, with its warming firepits and ice-skating rink, as well as a great choice of retail shops, restaurants and bars scattered throughout the streets.
On the edge of the village you’ll find mid-range condos, while half way up the hill, you can indulge in the Ritz Carlton or enjoy an absolutely luxurious stay at the Constellation Residences.
Working to a tighter budget? Book into nearby Truckee or one of the lakeside towns, which will require a short shuttle ride back to the base area.

Skiing & Boarding

Northstar spans over 3,170 acres of terrain, making this one of the larger ski resorts in the Tahoe area, behind Heavenly and Squaw Valley. Skiers and snowboarders alike will love the terrain parks here, which cater to all abilities, as well as the Burton progression park, and 22 foot Superpipe. The resort’s Front Face is ideal for beginners. Here the runs are mellow and there are fenced off ski school areas for first timers. Kids will especially enjoy the Adventure Zones with natural and man-made features.
The Backside boasts some great steep but groomed runs as well as more relaxed groomed runs for intermediates. Advanced skiers and boarders will find more challenging runs with well-spaced trees, and plenty of powder stashes on Lookout Mountain and the Backside.

Activities

At Northstar you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained right in the heart of the Village. Choose from an amazing array of bars and restaurants, savour a traditional toasty S’more, and wander the streets soaking up the atmosphere and warming your hands over the firepits.
This down to earth resort offers endless activities for the whole family, ranging from ice-skating, bungy trampolining and ropes, tubing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to yoga, shopping, live music and movies.
A Minors’ Camp offers childcare for kids aged two to six years and the highly regarded Northstar Ski School has lessons for kids and adults, with multiple meeting locations across the resort. Private lessons are available.

Getting There & Around

To get there, take one of many daily flights from US cities into Reno-Tahoe International Airport then jump on a shuttle for a quick 45 minute drive to Northstar. Alternatively, if you’re driving from San Francisco, you can be at the resort in three hours. Beware it will take longer during weekends or when the weather is inclement.
If you’re planning to explore the Lake Tahoe area while you’re there, you’re best to hire a car – shuttle and bus services are available, but you’ll need to make various connections. In Northstar itself, the village is pedestrian friendly and indeed, much of the central village area is car free. Taxi services are available.
