Lake Louise AccommodationThe hamlet of Lake Louise is just 40 minutes from the bigger town of Banff. Here there are understandably fewer options for accommodation, however it’s well worth consideration because the experience will be both intimate and immersive. Choose from a select few mid-priced inns and lodges or check into a luxurious chateaux or hotel, all of them have exceptional views, some of the magnificent Victoria Glacier and the frozen waters of Lake Louise itself. If you’re looking for a quieter, more romantic option, consider a secluded mountain lodge off the beaten track. Ski shuttles are available from the hotels, chateaus, inns and lodges, however you’ll need your own car if you plan to stay in one of the more secluded destinations. It takes 10 minutes to get to the mountain from the lake and five minutes from the village.Skiing & BoardingLake Louise boasts over 145 marked trails and bowls, providing more than 100kms of skiing with the longest run extending 8km. With 10 lifts, including a gondola, and three magic carpets, you’re sure to find the perfect destination regardless of your ability – and to get there fast. Sunny Side and the Kids Zone are safe and easy for beginners, and because they’re at the base of the mountain, they’re a convenient meeting point for families. Don’t worry about getting bored – you’ll find more beginner slopes across the mountain as well as some spectacular long groomed runs for intermediates. Then there are the natural jumps found in the Rock Garden, just off the Larch Express Chair. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, Lake Louise won’t disappoint. There are plenty of steep descents, chutes and gladed runs to keep you occupied on the Back Side of the resort and they all boast sensational views of the mountains beyond. A SkiBig3 ticket to Lake Louise gets you access to Banff Sunshine and Mt Norquay, assuring you of exceptional variety while you’re in the area.ActivitiesLake Louise is renowned for its beauty – in fact, with its spectacular setting against Mt Temple and the Victoria Glacier, it’s one of the most photographed sights in the Canadian Rockies. This place is all about the outdoors and, aside from skiing, there’s plenty to do. Within the ski resort you can enjoy the Terrain Park, Tube Park, and a beginner’s fun zone. Venture further and you’ll be able to experience skating around an ice castle on the frozen waters of Lake Louise, horse-drawn sleigh rides, dog sledding, endless cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing and some picturesque walks. Be sure to explore the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which looks out onto the frozen lake and Victoria Glacier. And, if you feel like relaxing, enjoy a day at the spa or just sitting by the magnificent picture windows admiring the view. The village of Lake Louise offers retail and grocery stores, as well as a few inns, lodges and cabins – nearby in Banff you’ll find even more.Getting There & AroundThe easiest way to get there is to fly into Calgary. From here it’s about a two hour easy drive west to Lake Louise along the TransCanada Highway. Airport shuttle service is available to take you from Calgary International Airport to your Lake Louise hotel and once you’re at your destination, there’s a convenient shuttle service to and from the ski resort. Typically it’s a 5-10 minute ride between any hotel and the ski resort itself. If you choose to hire a car for more flexibility, make sure it has snow tyres and take the time to stop along the way to appreciate the spectacular views. You’ll also need to purchase a park pass at the East Gate entrance to Banff National Park. How FarAirport: Transfer: Our staff love...
